Buddy L main page

Buddy L toys were manufactured by the East Moline Pressed Steel corporation. The owner Fred Lundahl turned his company from a supplier of parts to the auto industry into what was arguably the most recognized toy brand named after his son Arthur “Buddy” Lundahl. The first toy was produced in 1921 and the line grew rapidly including the spectacular outdoor railroad introduced in 1926

The toys were nearly indestructible, so much so that many wonderful examples persist in personal collections around the world to this day. Buddy L Toys are perfect for the collector looking for an eternal piece of childhood.

The company started by producing trucks including several models of fire engines but rapidly expanded into construction equipment and large outdoor trains.

A great resource on the history of Buddy L toys is Albert McCollough two volume set The New Book of Buddy L Toys. The book is out of print but often available on ebay. A great resource to check out current auction sales is Live Auctioneers https://www.liveauctioneers.com/search - there you can see upcoming auctions as well as prices realized on past sales, you need to register to see past prices but registration is free.
